Psalm 28:8 My heart has heard you say, come and talk with Me. And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
I love receiving an invitation from a friend. It says, “I enjoy your company. I care about your life and invite you into mine. I relish the contents of your heart.”
It’s one thing to receive one from a friend—but from the Creator of the Universe? He requests my presence—your presence? Why do we ever ignore this invitation? Maybe feelings of inadequacy dissuade us. Do we stress over a speech worthy of His time?
Good News: He has little interest in the content of our conversation. He doesn’t seek to be impressed. He’s not offended by our lack of knowledge. He understands every thought before it’s spoken.
He loves the unique sound of your voice, the breath from your lungs, the spark within your eyes, the tears that fall. He loves your one-of- a-kind life. No one else fills that gap.
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close. (v.10)
It sounds like he’s more crazy about us than the parents who raised us.
This Father offers us (from verse 11):
- Daily Instruction—Teach me how to live
- Companionship and guidance—Lead me along right paths
- An awareness of His goodness—I will see God’s goodness in the land of the living
Today when we hear the invitation, “Come” what might happen if we show up?
